Due to the number of matches being postponed, Please note the addition to rule 9

and amendments to rule 11 & 12 regarding maximum players and substitutes 

 

Please endeavour to play all fixtures. Unplayed fixtures cost the club money. Also, it is unfair to clubs competing for the title when teams around them receive points from unplayed games. 

INDOOR LEAGUES – RULES OF PLAY

 

1. The game shall consist of a maximum of 16 ends or 2 hours whichever is reached first. The end will he deemed to have started when the jack is

delivered from the mat.

No jack may be delivered after the bell.

 

2. Two points shall he awarded for a win and 1 point each for a drawn game.

 

3. If a team is short of one player, then they may play according to the  format in section 12.   Rink fees shall be paid in full.

 

4. If the jack is delivered incorrectly the opposing skip shall place the jack and determine the mat position


5. If, in the course of play, the jack is knocked wholly off the side boundary of the rink, the jack shall be replaced on the closest of the two spots level with the full length 'T' spot. Play shall then continue as normal. (For time limited games only)

6. If during play, moving bowls from adjacent rinks collide, they shall be removed and re-bowled.


7. National competitions (team and individual) will take preference over league games.    NB. 48hrs notice must be given to both league team captains for any rink/time alteration


8. Mixed teams should have at least one member of each gender. Open teams can consist of any combination of men and women.

 
9. Postponed games shall be re-arranged and played. Teams failing to fulfill fixtures shall concede 2 points and 5 shots to the opposing team.

If a league match has to be postponed, the postponing team must, within two weeks of the postponement date, offer the opposing team three dates for the postponed match to be played, one of which must be an evening and another a weekend. The game must be played within six weeks of the postponement or, in the case of matches later in the season, before the final date of the season.

10. Visiting the head at any time is not permitted.


11. Prior to playing, all players must be registered with the League Secretary. A maximum of eight players per team may be registered.

Should a team have a player permanently leave, then the player may be replaced providing the replacement player has not played for another team in that league during the current season.

 

12.  PROCEDURE FOR TEAMS ONE SHORT

 

If a Rink’s team is short of one player, then they may play three against four, the first two players shall deliver three woods each, but their team will forfeit 25% of their score.

If in a Pairs match, a player is unable to play, the player may be substituted with another provided they have not played for another team in the competition during the current season. Only one named substitute  may be used per team during the competition season.

​

 

If a Triples team is one short, then they may play two against three as follows:

The team with two players shall play with four woods each. The jack will be set in the normal manner by the lead of the team winning the mat.

However, the end will always commence with the full team’s lead delivering the first wood. Play then continues with each side playing alternate shots. (This means the skip of the full side will always deliver the last wood)

At the end of the game, the team short of a player shall forfeit 20% of their total shots

"FABULOUS 4s" RULES OF PLAY

 

1 . First, the 4 wood singles (12 ends) and 2 wood triples (8 ends) are played simultaneously; followed by 2 matches of 3-Wood Pairs (10 ends)

2. 2 points to be awarded for a win 1 point for a draw in each discipline.

3. Teams can comprise of up to 8 players, four of which will play each round. The format will be open i.e. any mix of gender.

​

4. Team Captain to decide who plays in which discipline.

5. If a team cannot fulfil their fixture, the match will result in a walk over and the opposing team will receive 2 points and 5 shots per discipline.

​

6. Team captain to take responsibility for the scorecards.

​

7. Substitutes can only be made from a team of eight declared players. If during the course of a game a player has to leave the green owing to illness or other reasonable course their place maybe filled by a substitute (See rule 55 Laws of the sport)

​

8. No trial ends permitted.

​

9. A toss a coin to decide which team has control of the mat in all formats.

​

10. Visiting the head during play will not be permitted.

​

11. If a jack in motion passes completely outside the boundaries of the rink of play or rebounds to a distance of  less than 20 metres from  the mat line, the jack shall  be re-spotted. If the jack passes outside the side boundary of the rink It should be placed on a pre-arranged spot on the rink 2 metres from the front ditch and 1.5 metres to the left or right of the centre line, on the side that it left the rink of play.

​

12. If a bowl is on the re-spot, the jack will be placed as near as possible to the bowl without touching it, between the spot and the centre of the rink. If any other bowls are in the way, the jack will be placed as near to that without touching it and the centre of the rink. In other words, directly between the 2 spots without touching a bowl.

In case of the league points being equal, Total Net Shot difference will be used.to find a winner.

AUSTRALIAN PAIRS LEAGUE

RULES OF PLAY

​

1. Toss a coin to decide who plays first. The winner of the toss places the mat and delivers the jack. If the jack finishes outside the confines of the rink (off side or in back ditch) it is declared dead and will need to be recast by the opposing team/player

 

2. On the first end the lead deliveries two of their four bowls, the lead and skip then change ends. The skip then plays four bowls before swapping ends once again with the lead, to allow the lead to play their final two bowls

 

3. Once all bowls are played the end is declared finished

 

4. The order of play is reversed on the next end with the Skip leading off. This sequence continues throughout the whole of the match with the lead leading off on odd ends and the skip leading off on even ends

 

5. Scoring is per normal Laws

 

6. Scores are recorded on the scoreboard/scorecard

 

7. The team who scores the most shots on the previous end plays first on the next end and decides on the position of the jack

8. A match shall consist of 16 ends.

 

9. Two points will be awarded for a win one point for a draw

​

10. Should the points be equal after all the matches have be completed, then shall difference shall determine the winner
