WELL DONE BECKY AND SAM

St Andrews celebrated the international achievements of two young members at a special

party in the clubhouse

Rebecca McMillan (31) and Sam Stocker (23) both represented England for the first time this year

 and both had considerable success.

McMillan, who won the national women’s indoor singles championship last year, had a brilliant world indoor championships in Guernsey in April, winning the silver medal in the mixed pairs with Harry Goodwin and reaching the last eight of the women’s singles. She also represented England in the British Isles Championship.

Stocker won his first England under-25 cap in the final match of the indoor Home International Series against Scotland and played on England’s only winning rink. In addition, he became the first player to win the Somerset indoor under-25 singles championship three years in a row.

Several players from other Somerset clubs joined in the celebration, which was organised by the McMillan and Stocker families. The two players presented St Andrews with framed England shirts, which will be displayed in the clubhouse.
